It’s Thanksgiving week. Here is a short post this week. Shorter than normal. Here are some things I’m thankful for:
I got to walk my daughter Sarah down the aisle. She married her best friend Nate, and we gained a wonderful son. Family matters. It can be the one you were born into or the one you choose.
I am 6 years removed from brain surgery. I can clearly see how that event made building this community a reality. The things you have survived can be the launch pad to discover your true purpose.
I am on a personal growth journey that has changed who I am. I don’t recognize the person I was a year ago. My coach has helped me realize success is not arriving at a destination. Instead, it is being in pursuit of a worthy goal. The same is possible for you. You don’t have to stay where you are.
I hit a 20th anniversary at my company. No small feat. The thing that’s kept me there is the relationships I’ve built along the way. Jobs and money come and go. People and relationships matter most. Are your closest relationships making you better or bitter? You get to choose who you spend the most time with.
John Maxwell says that what you put before you is what you focus on, and what you focus on expands. Choose to focus on your blessings. They are there if you look. Choose to focus on possibilities, not problems. You are stronger than you think.
What are you most thankful for this year?
Before we go, here’s a quick tip for Thanksgiving gatherings:
When crazy Uncle Roy says, “How about that election?” respond with,
“Politicians are temporary. Family is forever.”1
I published a Thanksgiving blog last year. We had 150 subscribers, and now we are closing in on 400. Thank you for reading/listening, restacking and sharing!
Such good advice. I began a gratitude journal a few weeks ago. I contemplate three things I'm grateful for every morning and I try not to duplicate any. It's amazing how this practice causes you to "notice" things that are right there in front of you that negativity bias causes you to miss. I like the idea of it expanding.
