Mike, I'm so sorry that person said that to you. Salt in the deepest of wounds. I hope that others have come along and spoken life into you since that time. Words matter!
Good piece. I remember arriving home upon the death of my father, and being told "I know how you feel". No you don't. Then the next comment was worse. I won't repeat my reply. Empathy is a sorely needed skill in our world today.
I've gotten empathy wrong plenty of times too. I've also been on the receiving end of the "sin in your life" comments. I know we all need to get better at this...some more than others. LOL Thanks, Tarek.
Soooo good! Such great wisdom and truth we can all step into more of!
Eight years ago, when I told a close childhood friend's mom about my son's abduction, she said "oh my God that pain you feel will never get better!"
I'll never forget that… I wish I could've sent her this to read at that moment!! Great one!

Thank you for showing me empathy when I’ve needed it. I love you!

Thanks for sharing Joe. Empathy does take work. It promotes connection to others. It’s always worth it.

Thanks Linda. I need to get better at it too!
